Sheila Sharos Obituary

Sheila (Sargent) Sharos passed peacefully on October 7, 2025; joyfully reunited with her best friend and beloved husband of 59 years, Charles L. Sharos. She transitioned in the loving presence of her two cherished children, Penni McEleney and Thomas C. Sharos. Together with their spouses, Penni's husband, Michael, and Tom's wife, Kathleen-Mary, they have ensured Shiela's legacy of love and family devotion will be carried forward through those who affectionately knew her as "Yaya" - her five grandchildren: Sarah McEleney, Ryan McEleney, Kelly Murdock (Scott), Daniel McEleney (Amie), and Bridget Sharos; and six great-grandchildren: Alex DeLauro, Declan McEleney, Caden McEleney, Riley Murdock, Kyla McEleney, and Maclin Murdock. She was also deeply bonded with her sister, Sandra Mara (Thomas W.) and Sandra's children, Katie McGovern and Thomas S. Mara. Sheila was born on January 24, 1938, in Broad Brook, CT, daughter of the late Thomas and Rdell Sargent. Her formative days spent on the family farm sparked her deep and lifelong love of animals, especially horses and dogs. There she also developed an industrious spirit, which fueled the development of the many talents she applied after graduating from Ellsworth High School. Among those experiences were employment at Loehmann's Clothing Store, where her work ethic and admirable sense of style contributed to her elevation from a part-time role to store manager. She also worked at Revay's Gardens in East Windsor before her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Past Pleasures Antiques, a continuation of the legacy formed by her parents' former ownership of the Red Mill Antique Shop. A summary of her professional and community contributions would not be complete without acknowledging the countless efforts and sacrifices she made to both directly and indirectly support her husband, Charles, in his service. Their loving partnership was the foundation to "Coach Charlie's" renowned contributions to student athletes in South Windsor and throughout the state. Those who knew Sheila will always remember how effortlessly she exuded seemingly paradoxical traits. She radiated an elegance that was humble and grounded, flashed a fiery passion matched with a serenity that brought comfort, and had an eye for the finer things in life, yet made it clear in how she lived that her relationships with the many she loved were unquestionably her most valued treasure. Per Sheila's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A ceremony open to all friends and family will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 11 a.m., at the Broad Brook Congregational Church, 122 Main St., in the Broad Brook section of East Windsor. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit, www.carmonfuneralhome.com. In honor of her profound love for all animals, including her beloved dogs and her cat, 'Muffka,' the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111 or by visiting, www.CTHumane.org/donate.
