Sidney Trusty Obituary

Sidney George Trusty, Jr., was one of six children born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 2, 1948, to the union of Sidney and Geneva (Harris)Trusty. Sid attended Atlantic City High School, Atlantic City Vo-Tech and Atlantic City Community College. Upon coming to Connecticut, Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH), employed Sid where he began his career as a Lead Mental Health Worker. Sid retired from CVH after over 30 years of service. In 1991, Sidney married the love of his life, Berlyn Marie Watkins of New Orleans, Louisiana. Sid was a faithful member of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, New Britain, CT., under the leadership of Rev. Michael Noble & Rev. Alfred Smith. In 1992 Berlyn left The First Baptist Church of Hartford and joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church to be with her husband. Sid was very much involved with the prevention and use of substance abuse meetings. Sid facilitated classes involving Co-dependence. After 15 (fifteen) years together at St. James Baptist Church Sid and Berlyn became members of The First Cathedral under the pastorate of Archbishop LeRoy Bailey, Jr. where he was a dedicated member of the Diaconate ministry and taught the Men's Sunday School class for many years. He also collaborated with the Eagles Ministry as well as a member of the Valor Ministry at The First Cathedral. On a lighter note, Sid was particularly meticulous in his wardrobe selections, but he "loved his jeans." Two of his most loved hobbies were bowling and billiards. He not only loved to play Pool, but he also competed professionally, winning many awards and trophies. Sid loved basketball, football, baseball and let's not forget about tennis. My condolences to Sid´s wife, other family members and friends. Yours was a useful life, you wrought well while here. You were generous with time, as you toiled from year to year. Many a life you did touch, always doing your part. Gladly to serve when called upon, with a generous and open heart. The Golden Gates stood open, God saw you needed rest. His garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best. So he put his arms around you and whispered "come to rest."
