Stephen Engman Obituary

On August 2, 2025, Stephen Engman left a loving family and many friends to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on October 9, 1954, in Fitchburg, MA, to Walter and Mae (Phelps) Engman. He leaves behind his loving wife, Laurie (Cefaratti) Engman, four beautiful daughters and their spouses, Shari and Chadd Hiatt, Rebecca and Cory Paauwe, Sarah and Dominick Pizzanello, Jennifer and Brian Bellody. He also leaves 13 wonderful and loving grandchildren, Colby, Anna and husband Erik, Bertali, Maya, Madelyn, Evelyn, Callie, Lucas, Gabriel, Andrew, Isabelle, Anthony, and Giana. He leaves his brothers, Lennie Engman, and his wife Amy, Lauri Engman and his wife Elaine, Wayne Engman and his wife Renee, and his sisters Debbie Engman-Daniels, Ellen Tramell, and Linda Sydieko and her husband Jim. He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Engman, and sister-in-law, Victoria Engman. He is also survived by his extended family, including his mother-in-law, Joan Cefaratti, brothers-in-law Wayne Cefaratti and his wife Charlene, Allen Cefaratti and his wife Cindy, and sisters-in-law Lynne Johnston and her husband John, and Lisa Cefaratti and her wife Irene. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who brought much joy to his life. Steve spent much of his life with family and friends, hosting numerous parties. He was an entrepreneur at heart and created and ran 13 companies. Steve was truly the life of the party- his smile lit up every room, and his energy was contagious. Whether he was cracking jokes, telling stories, or leading the way on the dance floor, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He had a deep love for music and dancing, creating memories that will be cherished forever. More than anything, Steve loved being surrounded by family and friends. His warmth, generosity, and zest for life made everyone feel welcome, and his presence made every gathering feel like a celebration. He will be truly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 12pm at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. His family will receive friends on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home from 10am – 12pm. Burial will be private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

We have warm memories of Steve at numerous family reunions. I treasure the picture of him wearing a hat, holding a chicken and making a "Crazy Guggenheimer" face- it so captures his sense of fun. He will be missed. Love and hugs to the family.
