Stephen J. Howe
Born November 5, 1954, passed away February 22, 2025 after a long illness.
Stephen was born in New Haven, CT to the late Arthur J. Howe (retired Detective BPD) and Mary Patricia Smith Howe.
Stephen is survived by his long-time partner Pamela J. Sokolosky of Branford, his children Andrew (Courtney) Howe, Christopher Howe and Rachael (Brandon Baryluk) Howe all of NY, his loving granddaughter Evelyn J. Howe and his grandson due July 2025. His siblings A. Michael Howe of North Haven, Patricia Howe Rooney of MI, and Diane Howe Sullivan of North Branford. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Daniel Rooney and Gary Sullivan.
In addition, he leaves his niece Jessica (Sam) Gulliver, CT, his nephews Richard (Vera) of WA and Charles Scafati of CA, Gregg (HI) and Dylan Howe (CT). His great nieces Grayce Howe, Evie and Marcie Scafati and great nephew Theodore Gulliver. He also leaves his Aunts Margaret and Beverly of New York along with many Smith family cousins.
Stephen has maintained a life long friendship with Raymond Comstock, Martin Maloney, David LaCroix, Scott Doolittle, Ed Kacey and Thomas Shanley all originally from Branford, CT who made time to spend time with Stephen over these last several years.
Stephen graduated from Branford High School in 1972. He went on to attend Paul Smith's College, The College of the Adirondacks where he graduated on the Dean's List with a Degree in environmental Science and Forestry in 1976.
After College Stephen was involved in Construction Management for CT Main. He was a project supervisor for Asplundh Tree Experts, this position took Stephen to Missouri, Maryland, Virginia, and Louisiana. He was the Area Manager for Cooperheat International overseeing projects in Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
Returning to New York Stephen's banking career spanned over many different positions in sales and management positions as a Loan Officer, first time home buyer specialist, Construction loan specialist, Area manager, District manager, Branch Manager up to and including Vice President. Banking institutions included The Bank of New York, Warwick Savings Bank, HSBC, Countrywide and Kensington Financial.
Stephen enjoyed swimming at Branford Point and many camping trips in the Adirondacks with his children and friends, these were his happy places to relax and enjoy.

Stephen's wishes are that there be 2 celebrations of his life, the first in Branford, CT in early May and the second in Saranac Lake, NY later on in May.
