Stephen Loos Obituary
Stephen Robert Loos, 66, of Wallingford, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Smilow Cancer Center at Yale, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous year-long battle with leukemia. Prior to this recent diagnosis, he was a proud five-year survivor of esophageal cancer.
An avid outdoorsman, Steve loved hunting, fishing, skiing, and spending time in nature. He was a proud member of the Belltown Sportsman Club in East Hampton, CT, and the Meriden Ski Club, where he was a decorated athlete. He cherished his time on the golf course, especially at Miner Hills in Middletown and Hunter Memorial Golf Course in Meriden, where he grew up playing. For 25 years, he enjoyed competing in the Ned Conley Memorial Open. A passionate UConn Huskies fan, he loved watching the games with his dogs. Steve also adored the beach-particularly summers spent with family in Old Lyme.
In his backyard garden, Steve found joy in growing vegetables, especially cucumbers, which he famously turned into his well-known homemade pickles. His love for food extended into the kitchen, where he and his wife prepared countless meals for family and friends. Steve also had a special place in his heart for his Labrador retrievers-Hannah, Rosie, and Maple.
Steve was a 1977 graduate of Maloney High School. He dedicated 45 years to his craft as a precision sheet metal fabricator, including 25 years at I2S in Wallingford, and most recently at Ward Leonard in Thomaston, where he supported government naval contracts.
Born in Hartford on October 30, 1958, Steve was the beloved husband of Susan (Conley) Loos for 24 years. He was the son of the late Howard and Katherine (Dumark) Loos. He is survived by his sons Eric Loos (Jennifer) of Glastonbury, CT, and Gregory Zeoli of Wallingford, CT; his daughters Sara Camyre (Ryan) of Franklin, MA, Jenna Boroian (Derek) of Irvine, CA, and Sandi Zeoli (Christopher) of Middlefield, CT. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren-Julian and Camden Loos, Calvin and Alice Camyre, and Jamie Boroian-with a sixth grandson on the way.
Steve is also survived by his siblings, Christopher Loos (Linda) of Meriden, CT, Jane Milslagle (Robert) of Meriden, CT, and Mary Jones (Mark) of Torrington, CT. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marcia Granucci, his brother, Martin Loos, and his nephew, Matthew Granucci.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion over the past year.
