Stephen Mendelsohn Obituary

Stephen Mendelsohn, 63, of New Britain, passed away suddenly on June 1, 2025. Dedicated to tikkun olam (repairing the world), Stephen was an invaluable resource for disability rights, Judaism, and the humane treatment of animals. His many friends and admirers described him as a deeply good person, kind, thoughtful, and full of passionate wisdom. Stephen had a warmth and presence that was unique. He will be deeply missed.

Stephen was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis (Hymowitz) Mendelsohn; his father, Arnold Mendelsohn. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Beth Mendelsohn, nephews: Joshua and Jordan Mendelsohn, close friend Cathy Ludlum, and stepfather Paul Stevens.

Our time in this world is unknown, but one thing is certain: when we have completed our calling upon the earth, we are destined to the heavens.
Stephen's presence was a gift-marked by purpose, compassion, and light. Though his earthly journey has ended, his spirit continues to guide and inspire. may we find comfort in knowing he has found peace among the stars. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.

I worked with Stephen at Travelers for two years. I am really going to miss him. Reading his obituary I am an animal lover too and am for justice. He will be sorely missed.
