Stephen Siegler Obituary
Stephen Haskell Siegler passed away at Hartford Hospital on August 31st. Stephen was born in Augusta, ME on March 6, 1948 to Raymond and Madeline (Haskell) Siegler. He attended local schools and graduated from St. Dominic Academy High School in Auburn, ME. He attended the University of Maine until he enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam era.
Stephen was stationed in Herzogenaurach, Germany as a Communications Technician. While stationed there, he developed a love for the country, and opted for a "European Out", spending the next twenty years working in and exploring Europe. He was the manager of the Herzo Base Audio/Video Club and the Audio/Video Center in Nuernberg.
Steve met Cynthia (Cid) when she came into the Audio/Video Club and applied for a job (she got the job). They married in 1979 and had three phenomenal daughters: Jessica, Rebecca, and Sabrina. He was a wonderful father to our girls; he taught them how to find periwinkles in Maine tide ponds, how to spot a pied woodpecker, how to change the oil in their cars, and instilled in them a love for Willie, Waylon, and the Boys.
Steve worked for Panasonic Deutschland and Cynthia for Boston University's International Programs. They and their girls traveled all over Europe and Steve made several trips to Japan as Panasonic's top salesman.
Upon returning to the U.S. in 1992, Steve went on to work for several audio/video stores in the region: Sound Playground, Bernie's, and Tweeter. His love of music was evident, and he enjoyed educating clients on the ins and outs of audio appreciation.
He was an avid lover of music, especially Classic Rock: Hendrix, Clapton, Richie Havens, Joe Cocker, etc., etc.
We sang "You Can Close Your Eyes" by James Taylor as a lullaby to our girls and had it playing softly as Steve left us.
He leaves to cherish is warmth and wit--his wife Cynthia, his daughters Jessica (Jeremy), Rebecca (Richard), and Sabrina (Chris); his beautiful grandchildren: Amy, Elise, Jeremy, Jr. and Richard, Jr.; his fabulous Siegler Siblings, Annemarie (Michael), Larry (Claudia), Susan, and Paul (Andrea); his brother-in-law, George Page, and his sister-in-law, Deb MacDonald. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Raymond Jr., and his brother-in-law Dennis Page.
Thanks go out to the amazing medical personnel at the
d'Amour Center for Cancer Care, Baystate Medical Center, Nobel Hospital, and most recently, at Hartford Hospital.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
My love will last forever, in my heart you belong.
Schatzie, you can close your eyes, it's alright.
The burial will be private and a celebration of life will be held in Maine. In lieu of flowers Steve's family asks that donations be made to
