Steven J. Kulikowski

Steven J. Kulikowski, 79, of Avon, beloved husband of Barbara (Bent) Kulikowski, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025. Born in New Britain, son of the late John and Evelyn (Gavalis) Kulikowski, he lived most of his life in Avon. Steve served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and after his Honorable Discharge served for 28 years as a Police Officer for the Town of Avon. After his retirement, he started his own business, SJK Electrical Services. His hope was to work until he turned 80, and he was just a few weeks short of that goal. Growing up in Avon, he was an alter server at the Church of Saint Ann and as an adult, developed a passion for ice dancing which he also instructed. He was proud to sponsor a Farmington Relay For Life team, Kulis' Cruisers, for many years. He loved cars, working on anything mechanical, and enjoyed his monthly meetings for coffee with his car enthusiast friends, the gear heads. Besides his wife Barbara, he leaves two daughters Christine Mitchell and her husband Chris of Torrington and Amy Kulikowski of Colebrook; step-son Jim Chakulski of Columbia; two step-daughters Stacy Quirk husband Brad of Southwick, MA, and Amy Janco and her husband Paul of New Hartford; a brother Edward Kulikowski of Tavares, FL; his sister Rosanne Lamson and husband Reggie of Salisbury; grandchildren Emily, Paige, George, Jacob, and MacKenzie; and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends Friday, September 5, 2025, from 5-8 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, 10 AM at Carmon's of Avon followed by Military Honors. Burial will be private in St. Ann Cemetery, Avon.
