Steven Sabat Obituary

Steven H. Sabat, 74, of Windsor Locks, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hartford on February 15, 1950, Steven was the son of the late Stanley J. Sabat and Irmgard Anna (Rose) Sabat. A proud Vietnam combat veteran, he served his country honorably in the United States Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery. Steven was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Margaret "Mickey" (Spiller) Sabat, as well as his youngest daughter, Michelene, and his sister, Catherine. He is survived by his son, Steven J. Sabat, and his partner Bernadette Callan of Windsor Locks; his daughter, Krissy Bernard, and her husband Blaise of Stafford Springs; and his beloved grandchildren, Adam, Seth, Becci, Evan, Jeremy, and Jacque. He also leaves behind his sisters, Eva and Nancy Sabat; his in-laws, Paul and Linda Formanek; his many nieces and nephews; and many friends including his longtime friend John Starinovich. An electrician by trade, Steven's mechanical talents allowed him to fix just about anything. He cherished time spent outdoors and lovingly crafted heirlooms for his family and friends. A devoted animal lover, he was often found with a dog curled up in his lap. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the South Harbor wing of the VA Hospice for their exceptional care. Services will be held at a later date.
