Teresa Gutowski Obituary

Teresa Gutowski (née Drzazgowska) January 28, 1940 – April 3, 2025 With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived the family of Teresa Gutowski announces her peaceful passing on April 3, 2025 at the age of 85. Born in Wasosz Poland on January 28,1940 to the late Czeslaw and Teodozja Drzazgowski. Teresa lost her mother at a young age and spent her remaining childhood under the care of Regina Drzazgowska. Teresa was married to Antoni Gutowski in 1958, a devoted mother to their four children, a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. In 1965, she courageously immigrated to the United States with her husband and their three young children, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future. Soon after settling in America, Teresa welcomed their youngest child, completing their family of six. She was preceded in death by her husband Antoni in 1998, and by their first-born son Antoni Jr. in 1959, her sister Janina Drzazgowska in 1950 and sister Jadwiga Wozniak in 2024. Teresa established her life in the Hartford area, where she worked to provide for her family and actively participated in the Polish parish of SS Cyril & Methodius. Later in life, she relocated to New London to be closer to family, where she made her final home. Teresa was renowned for her resilience, hard work, and dedication to family. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-tending to her gardens, sewing her own clothes as a skilled seamstress, and preparing traditional Polish meals for her family. She had a deep connection with nature, nurturing plants and enjoying family outings at Hammonasset Beach, where fond memories were made across all generations. A devout Catholic, Teresa found solace in her faith and the supportive Polish community at SS Cyril & Methodius Parish. She is survived by her loving children: Bonnie Morin and her husband Sylvain J. and their children, son Adam M. Morin, his wife Kathryn E. and Teresa's great-grandchildren Claire and Michael, and daughter Michelle M. Shvonski and her husband Benjamin T.; Bogdan Gutowski and his wife Jolanta K. and their daughters Merrill Gutowski and Loren Gutowski; Dorothy Brank, and her children: daughter Hannah M. Gaughan with husband John T. and great-granddaughter Casey, and daughter Vaille L. Brank; and Edward Ludwik Gutowski and his wife Julie L. Gutowski and their son Christian Antoni Gutowski. She is also survived by her sister Sophie Zeil, and her brother Antoni Drzazgowski, who resides in Poland. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the Gutowski family on Friday April 11, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. So sorry for the loss of your mom. I know you all worked hard to keep her independent for as long as possible. And I'm sure that meant alot to her.
