Teresa Latorre Obituary

Terry was a beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt and great-great-aunt. She is survived by her brother, Frank and sister, Jean, her nieces Julianne, Christina, Jeannine, Mary Ellen, Lisa and her nephew, Benson and all their children. Terry was a teacher at heart. After her retirement from Hamden High School, she went on to be an adjunct professor at SCSU and an ESOL instructor in both Hamden and New Haven. She was proud of her Italian heritage and enjoyed sharing anecdotes in the classroom and at the dining room table with friends. Hearing from former students and meeting with several of them for lunch now and then, was especially meaningful to her. If you were lucky enough to know Terry, you know she had many "favorite things" - puttering in her flower garden, traveling with her dear departed friend, Vivian, spending time with her nieces and nephew and their children whenever possible, pictures of her great-great nieces and nephews which always brought a smile to her face, a collection of crystal Christmas trees, monthly breakfasts with her Hamden High colleagues, watching the Mets win, pfeffernusse, bagels with cream cheese and lox, Bingo- the list goes on. She enjoyed life and the people in her life. She was extremely grateful for the time she had and will be sorely missed by all of us! Friends are invited to join us at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Hamden at 12pm on Friday, June 6th for a Mass of Christian Burial. Teresa will be laid to rest with her parents in Queens, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. ( www.stjude.org)
