Thomas Janowski

Thomas Janowski, 76 of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Born in New Britain on October 27, 1948, son of the late Stanley and Lucy B. (Mikulak) Janowski, he was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Britain and Pulaski High School Graduate Class of 1967. Thomas was a veteran of Vietnam War in the 1st Calvary 169th Infantry Division. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved deep sea fishing. Tom loved to watch Western movies and spend time with his many pets. He was a family orientated man, he raised his children as a single father and they meant a world to him. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and found joy in being with his grandkids and finding a way to make everyone laugh. A very honest man he lived his life in fullness, Tom loved to have a good time with his family and friends. Tom was an Integral member of the Vietnam Traveling, Wall- New Britain 2003, 169th Calvary Infantry Division, American Legion-Plainville, Bristol Rod and Gun Club, VFW Post 511 where he also was a chaplain, DAV Chapter 8 – he was a member and chaplain and Wreaths Across America and Holy Cross Parent Association. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his son, Thomas B. Janowski and his wife Wendy of Manassas, VA; his daughter, Alicia Janowski of New Britain, with whom he shared a special bond and a home; his grandchildren: Lana Adorno, Christopher Ceasar and Alexander Ceasar, his godchildren: Steven, Rachel, Mary Kathrin and Joanna; his sisters: Marge Rinkavage of Southington, Christine Chirdon and her husband Stephen of Farmington and Barbara Dzwil and her husband James of Charlestown, RI and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Thomas was predeceased by his brother-in-law Raymond Rinkavage, his nephew, William Dzwil, his cousin, Teddy Osak and his best friends: Bill Boyles, Joseph Morin, Michael Sztaba. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St, New Britain, CT.
