Wiley Whitaker Obituary

Wiley Whitaker Jr., 66, of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2025, at his home. His soul is now with the Lord, and we find comfort knowing he is at peace.
Born in Carmel, New York on July 9, 1958, to the late Wylie and Dorothy Lee (Taylor) Whitaker Sr., Wiley's journey through life was one marked by love, music, and unwavering faith. His family relocated to Bethel, CT at a young age, and it was there that Wiley's deep connection with the Lord and the church began to blossom. Raised in Danbury, he was a proud graduate of Danbury High School, but it was in the embrace of his spiritual roots where his true calling began to shine.
A beloved son of a Pastor, Wiley was immersed in music from the start. Raised with a deep love for God, he lived his life as a living testament to the power of faith, joy, and the gospel. A self-proclaimed "one-man band," Wiley was a musical genius, effortlessly mastering a variety of instruments, including the keys, drums, and guitar. His musical talents were unmatched, and he could make any space come alive with his sound. He played not for fame, but for the pure love of sharing his passion with others. His life embodied the words of Psalms 104:33: "I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live." And he did just that-filling every day with music, praise, and love.
Wiley's character was as vibrant as his music. His presence was magnetic-his energy infectious. Whether through his adventurous storytelling, his warm laughter, or his ability to make anyone feel like family, Wiley's spirit was larger than life. He had an infectious zest for living, and his sense of humor was legendary. He had a way of making every person he encountered feel special, and his love and laughter will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
A loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Wiley leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and joy. His memory will be cherished by his children, Wiley Whitaker III and Vanessa Whitaker, his siblings Dwight Taylor of Vermont, Scotty Whitaker of Danbury, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. He is also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Anderson, and siblings Keith Allen, Michelle Johnson, and Michael Whitaker.
Though Wiley has left this world, his light will continue to shine in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His music, his love, and his vibrant spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, Wiley-your song will never fade.
