We are heartbroken to share that Scott Thomas Stella, 57, entered the gates of Heaven on March 11th in the comfort of his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Kris (Stenmark) Stella for 36 years.

Scott was born in Norwalk, CT, and was the son of Thomas Stella and the late Harriet (Nowack) Stella. He grew up in Danbury and attended Danbury High School, where he formed many friendships that have lasted a lifetime. He spent 20 years in the logging industry, the majority of which was with Bob's Landclearing, before becoming a commercial truck driver in the construction industry. He was most recently employed at NPL in Berlin. No matter the job, he took pride in his work and the many friendships he made along the way. Scott was an avid outdoorsman and animal enthusiast. He would often bring home birds and squirrels that needed rescuing, along with other wildlife, before handing them off to the professionals. He was also a proponent of domestic animal rescue. The house was always filled with cats and a dog, never without one or the other for long. His greatest joy though, was found in spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed countless fishing trips, riding quads, camping and spending many summers with family at Bonnet Shores beach in R.I. He loved a good campfire, which always involved stories, drinks and endless laughs. For over 25 years, Scott attended an annual winter camping trip where he and more than 30 friends would spend a weekend in February tent camping, listening to music, eating, drinking, and creating memories to last a lifetime.

Scott was a devoted husband and father, who supported his daughters in all their endeavors. He never missed a sporting event, father/daughter dance or the chance to help his girls earn their Girl Scout badges. He could often be found behind center field at Naugatuck High softball games because that was where he could cheer the loudest. He took great joy in the teaching moments with his girls. He made sure they knew how to change a flat tire and change the oil in their car. He always made sure they felt loved and taken care of. He also made sure the Stella house was where everyone wanted to hang out. He made everything fun. He was the "cool dad" to all his daughters' friends. Countless parties were hosted, poker games were played in the garage, and he took great pride in the annual haunted house set up in the backyard that the entire neighborhood had to come see. Those moments brought Scott great joy. He put his all into every project he was involved in. When his sons-in-law came into the family, he enjoyed every opportunity to teach them as well. He loved every moment spent on things they did together. They were true sons to him. He was a true family man. Always making sure his family was taken care of.

Above all else, Scott will be remembered for his generous spirit. He was a kind, loving, selfless man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, whether a friend or a complete stranger. He was someone you could always depend on. He was always the first to show up to help and the last to leave. With his easygoing nature, warm heart and wonderful sense of humor, Scott had a way of bringing people together and making every gathering brighter. He brought laughter wherever he went. To those who knew and loved him, he was truly the life of the party and a light in the lives of so many. His beautiful heart and soul will live on eternally in the lives of everyone he has touched. His two granddaughters, especially, will miss their Papa. He was overjoyed to become a grandfather, and relished every moment spent with them.

In addition to his loving wife and father, he will forever be missed by his two daughters, Skye Andrew and her husband Kyle, of Beacon Falls and Ciara Stella-Hanson and her husband James, of Naugatuck, his two granddaughters, Maisie and Isla Andrew, his sister, Dawn Bell (Allen) and his brother, Michael Stella both of Marietta, OH as well as a host of friends and extended family that were truly blessed to have known Scott. We will miss his smile, his light and his spirit terribly, but we take comfort knowing he's finally at peace.

Arrangements: Calling hours will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. In true celebration of his life, all are invited to join his family at 4:30 p.m. at Mona Lisa Restaurant, 10 Wakelee Rd, Wolcott to laugh, share stories and raise a glass in Scott's memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Scott's memory to a local animal shelter of choice.
