Bette Tarrence Obituary

Bette Louise Tarrence, 77, of Burlington, died Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. Born June 15, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of Philip Ellworth and Florence Lucille Henessee Seager. On May 25, 1968, she married Duane Tarrence at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. A 1967 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Bette was an active member of the school band throughout her time there. Over the years, she worked as a secretary for various businesses until her retirement. Bette was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, visiting the casino, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She was a dedicated grandmother, always cheering for her grandchildren at their sporting events. Survivors include her husband, Duane Tarrence of Burlington; two children, Chad (Gina) Tarrence of Burlington, and Carie (Jason) Edwards of New London; three grandchildren, Mikaela, Chance, and Cason, two sisters, Connie Rheinschmidt of Middletown, and Tresea (John) Swan of Olathe, KS; two brothers-in-law, Dale (Cindy) Tarrence of Mt Pleasant, and Dennis Tarrence of NC, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Seager, two brothers-in-law, John "Gil" Rheinschmidt and Darrell Tarrence. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. There will be no service at this time. Memorials have been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice and Special Needs Foundation. To send flowers to the family, please visit our floral store.
