Billie Hyatt Obituary
Billie Jean Hyatt, 79 of Mt. Pleasant formerly of Keokuk passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant surrounded by her family and woke up in heaven, hearing the angels sing for the very first time.
She was born on May 27, 1946, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Bonnie D. (McIntosh) Johnson. On August 27, 1966, she was united in marriage to Dale Hyatt, in Keokuk. They shared fifty-six years of marriage before Dale's passing on August 19, 2022.
From the very beginning, Billie faced life's challenges with strength and grace. Born deaf, she never learned formal sign language but created her own unique way of communicating, a language of love, laughter, and facial expressions that her family understood deeply.
Billie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She had a quiet but playful spirit and a deep love for her family. She treasured family time, whether gathered around a table playing marbles, sipping coffee with her sister Sharon, or cheering on her grandchildren in their adventures. She loved the excitement of casinos, where she enjoyed testing her luck at the slot machines. She was known for her warm heart, gentle soul, and independent spirit. Billie didn't need to speak to be heard-her presence alone was comforting and full of love.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Eversmeyer of Ewing, MO, four grandchildren, Michael Bartels (Kyndal) of Gilbert, IA, Cody Bartels (Jordan) of Jacksonville, FL, Tammy Bartels (Aaron Land) of Ewing, MO and Bella Eversmeyer of Ewing, MO, three great grandsons, Jaxtynn Land, Winston Land and Preston McDonald and two great granddaughters, Laylah Land and Nora Rae Bartels. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Trone of Keokuk, sister-in-law, Carol Middaugh, along with nieces and nephews, Danny Trone (Patricia), Carmen Jones (Scott Severin), Jason Trone (Melissa), Roberta McCoy, Jimmy Johnson (Nici), and Carl Johnson and many other family members.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Tammy Newlon, a grandson Lantz Eversmeyer, brother, James Johnson and a sister in infancy.
