Calvin Runyon Obituary
Calvin Wayne Runyon, 73, of Hannibal, MO, was called home to heaven while surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 8:05 pm., at his home in Hannibal, MO.
Calvin was born November 16, 1951, in Hannibal, MO to Lewis Runyon and Virginia Christal Runyon.
He was married to the love of his life, Lisa Hayes, on March 12, 1983, in Hannibal, MO. She survives.
Other survivors include his three children, Mary Doblado (Charlie), Nicole Boren (Justin), and Zach Runyon (Karee); and one brother, Richard Runyon (Mickie); six sisters, Peggy Bolomey (Charles), Sharon Smith, Patty Osborn, Etta Mae McHone, Goldie Williams (Thomas), and Becky Potter; nine grandchildren, Megan, Denny, Haley, Amaya, Gracyn, Brynn, Lennox, Brooklyn, and Brylee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Darrell, Mike, and Gary Runyon; and one sister, Sandy Runyon.
Calvin was a construction worker by trade and worked for Tri-Tech Construction in Keokuk, IA for many years until his retirement. He was known for his unwavering work ethic and was well respected by his colleagues and family for his resilience, reliability, and strength of character.
Calvin loved the simple pleasures in life. He spent countless hours fishing and boating on the Mississippi and Mark Twain Lake. When not on the water, Calvin could often be found outside, cutting grass and tending to his lawn. Calvin enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns. Calvin was a long time Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved gathering with his family to watch football games.
Another of Calvin's favorite pastimes was visiting the casino occasionally, where he enjoyed the excitement of playing the slots. He also took pleasure in playing Power Ball and buying lottery tickets, always optimistic about the chance of a lucky break.
Above all, Calvin was a devoted family man; it was his family that truly captured his heart. He beamed with pride when speaking about his children and cherished every moment with his grandchildren, whose visits would light up his world. He will be remembered by his loved ones for his persevering strength, courage, and determination. Calvin will be deeply missed.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
The family will host a Life Celebration at a later date.
