Dorothy Lumberg Obituary

Dorothy Kay Lumberg, 64, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 1:33 AM, Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 17, 2025, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. Dorothy was born July 4, 1961, in Hannibal, MO, to William Vincent Epperson and Lucille Marie Gilliland Epperson. She was married to James Dale Lumberg on July 6, 2008, in Hannibal, MO. He survives. Other survivors include her stepmother, Neva Epperson of New London, MO; four children, Heather McCulley (James Drennan) of Hannibal, MO, Jennifer O'Connell of Hannibal, MO, Robert O'Connell of Hannibal, MO, and Christopher O'Connell (Jolene Anderson) of Hannibal, MO; two brothers, David Epperson of Center, MO, and Dale Epperson of New London, MO; three sisters, Susan Gollaher (Calvin) of Hannibal, MO, Melissa Shepherd (Tony) of Hannibal, MO, and Shelly Kremer (Matt) of Jefferson City, MO; nine grandchildren, Damien McCulley, Tori Epperson, Chad Elliott, Rebecca Peters, Kaylee Culp, Rosalie Peters, Renee Epperson, Alexis O'Connell, and Cambree Elledge; and four great grandchildren, Dean McCulley, Sam McCulley, Jansler McCulley, and Hudson McCulley. She is also survived by honorary daughter-in-law, Kylee Elledge and her daughter who Dorothy thought of as a granddaughter Katherine Lain; honorary son-in-law, Chad Ewing (Jamie Bradley) and their children, her honorary grandchildren, Alayia and Gunner Ewing. She is also survived by her friend, Kevin O'Connell and several nieces and nephews and so on. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, William Lee Epperson; and one sister Julie Cullom and One brother-in-law William Cullom. Dorothy worked as a home health care aide and later as a store clerk at Pick A Dilly in Center and Hannibal. In her retirement, Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family. Dorothy embraced the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in coloring and in the pages of a good book. Dorothy enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking her highly requested homemade pizzas, soups and stews. A fan of crime shows, Dorothy could often be found watching episodes of Criminal Minds and Law and Order. Dorothy loved the iconic character, Betty Boop, and listening to classic country music. Above all, Dorothy's greatest joy was her family, who were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them. One of Dorothy's favorite pastimes was bossing her Husband and family around. Pallbearers will be Chris O'Connell, Michael Lish, Jamie Drennan, Chad Ewing, Leland Smith, Chubbs Henson, and Russell Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Dougherty and Jacob Christal.
