Harvey Bradshaw Obituary

Harvey R. Bradshaw, age 83 of Griggsville, IL passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born August 25, 1942, in Pittsfield, IL to Thomas and Lois Sweeting Bradshaw. Harvey married Judith Reese November 27, 1965, at the Griggsville United Methodist Church and she survives. Harvey was a 1960 graduate of Griggsville High School where he played basketball, was an active member of FFA, and dedicated member of 4H showing livestock at the area fairs. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. Harvey was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer and raised Yorkshire and Poland China pigs. He was a dedicated family man who always made time to attend his kid's activities and especially loved watching his children and grandchildren continue the family legacy showing livestock at the 4H shows during fair season. Harvey was a committed and faithful member of his community where he was a member of the Griggsville United Methodist Church, Griggsville Jaycees, Pittsfield Moose Lodge, Griggsville American Legion, Griggsville Masonic Lodge, and Pork Producers. Harvey and Judy were the 2017 Honored Citizens and Parade Marshalls for the Griggsville Apple Festival. He remained active by bowling at the Perry Bowling Alley, played recreational basketball, enjoyed pheasant hunting, camping at the creek with the card club, was a collector of wooden duck decoys, an AC tractor collector, and enjoyed spending time trail riding with family and friends. Harvey loved unconditionally, had the patience of a saint, was honest and genuine, and a man of few words. He instilled the ability to work hard and give every task your best effort to his family…anything worth doing is worth doing right! Harvey is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Judy Bradshaw; son, Brian (Marni) Bradshaw of Griggsville, IL; daughter, Chontel (Randy) Whitaker of Griggsville, IL; grandchildren, Marlee Schultz, Wyatt (Alex) Bradshaw, Riley (Hannah) Bradshaw, Duncan Bradshaw, Avery Bradshaw, Josie Bradshaw, MaKayla (Nate) Wiese, Miranda (Max) Kocher, and Isaac (Lauren Bauer) Whitaker; great grandchildren, Rhett Kocher, Noa Kocher, Evelyn Wiese, and Henry Wiese; brother, Philip (Linda) Bradshaw; sister-in-law, Carole Bradshaw; several nieces, nephews and cousins; mother-in-law, Genita Reese; and in-laws, John (Susan) Clough, Jackie (Phil) Richmond, Debbie (Phillip) Hinners, Murray Martin, and Al Berry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lois Bradshaw; twin son and daughter in infancy; great grandson, Samuel James Kocher; brother, Frederick Bradshaw; in-laws, Herman Beatty 'Bill' Reese, and Evelyn Reese; and sisters-in-law, Audrey Martin and Linda Berry. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 12, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with interment to follow the service at Griggsville Cemetery in Griggsville, IL.
