Helen Kinkade Obituary
Helen K. Kinkade, 75, of Hamilton, passed away at 9:52 PM Monday, October 13, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Helen was born October 25, 1949, the daughter of John J. and Fern M. (Greene) Syfert in Shelbyville, Illinois. On February 16, 1974, she was united in marriage to Edward J. Kinkade in Coal City, Illinois. He survives. Helen graduated from Coal City High School and went on to work for USAMUCOM/APSA, in Joliet as a clerk-stenographer and secretary. She received several awards of recognition and commendation certificates for her work on the ADP operations and SWORDS/WORCS/MILSCAP special project group. She also worked in the financial management systems division and PEMARS project. She served as Miss MILSCAP at a MILSCAP training conference in Joliet, Illinois. Helen worked at the Rexene Polymers chemical plant in the purchasing department at Joliet. Her future husband, Edward, was assistant manager of the Pioneer Lumber Company in Coal City, Illinois. Helen's brother, Darrell, worked in the lumber yard and set up his sister, Helen, with his boss Edward. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Hamilton, Illinois where Helen worked in an insurance office in Hamilton and as a secretary for the Hamilton law office of Capps, Cosgrove, Ancelet and Stoverink. She retired from Methode Electronics in Carthage in 2000.
Helen enjoyed her pet rabbits and her bunny rabbit collectables. She and Ed enjoyed traveling and she enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a fan of country music legend George Strait (The Man) and The Lone Ranger (Clayton Moore) western series. She even wrote 27 of her own versions of the Lone Ranger.
Helen is survived by her husband, Edward, of Hamilton; two children, Jana M. (Trevor) Adams of Quincy and James E. (Christina) Kinkade of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Katelynn Adams, Aaliyah Adams, Mariah Adams and Keeley Adams of Quincy and Edward J. Kinkade, Jocelyn Kinkade and Melody Kinkade of Hamilton; one great grandson, Jaden James Aymond of Quincy; and two brothers, Darrell (Toni) Syfert of Shorewood, Illinois and Jimmie Syfert of the Philippines.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday evening, October 18, 2025, at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton at a later date.
