James Hawkins Obituary

James Lee "Jim" Hawkins, age 81, of Quincy, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 2:15 pm in Blessing Hospital. Jim was born August 9, 1943, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Vernon and Virginia Clapper Hawkins. He was united in marriage to Linda Maples Gramke on January 1, 1986, in First Christian Church in Quincy. She survives. Jim was a 1961 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 - 1970. Jim Worked 44 years at Moorman Manufacturing. He went on to work at Menards for seven years. Jim attended The Crossing in Quincy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an accomplished stained glass artisan and greatly enjoyed making beautiful stained glass art for family and friends. Survivors in addition to his wife, Linda, include: a stepdaughter, Lori Arrowsmith; four grandchildren, Jessica Gist, Brooke Niekamp, Blake Hunter, and Tyler Arrowsmith; and seven great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by: his parents, Vernon and Virginia Hawkins; his daughter, Nicole Hawkins; and a step daughter, Crystal Gramke. Graveside Services: 9:00 am Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Greenmount Cemetery, with Pastor Curtis Pratt officiating. Military Rites will be performed by American Legion Post #37 and the United States Army Funeral Honors Team. Burial to follow. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to Hansen-Spear Funeral Home or the Illinois Veterans Home for activities.
