Janice Cooper Obituary

Janice Lee Cooper, 87, a dedicated nurse, talented quilter and crocheter of Hannibal, MO passed away at 3:10 am Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Grand View Burial Park. Rev. David Gottman will officiate. Visitation celebrating Janice's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel. Janice was born on January 5, 1938, in Hannibal, Missouri the daughter of John "Jack" and Edna Louise (Bowman) Osborne. She was united in marriage to Jack M. Cooper on March 8, 1959, in First United Methodist Church of Hannibal MO. Survivors include her husband, Jack M. Cooper of Hannibal. two daughters, Tamra Wolfmeyer (Michael) and Sandi Campbell (Kelly), three grandsons, Christopher Wolfmeyer, Kyle Campbell, Kody Campbell and one granddaughter, Caroline "Carrie" Wolfmeyer; three great-grandchildren, Paxton, Pace and Ada Kay. Other survivors include her brother, Brian Osborne and his wife Tara, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Janice graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1956 and went on to further her education at Barnes Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1959. She worked at both Levering Hospital and St. Elizabeth's Hospital during her high school years. She then worked in the nursing profession as a registered nurse for forty years along with serving in many other capacities before retiring from Hannibal Regional Hospital. Janice was a past member of The American Nurses Association, The American Heart Association and The American Red Cross where she proudly dedicated her time. Janice was a member of First United Methodist Church where she served as pianist and organist for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Cancer Center, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
