Janice Kay Murphy

Janice Kay Murphy, age 80 of LaBelle, MO passed away Monday, August 25, 2025 in Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO. She was born August 1, 1945 in Liberty, IL the daughter of Charles William and Opal Edna Cook Sparrow, Sr. She was united in marriage to George Howard Murphy on May 1, 1964 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2016. Janice was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Wayne (Pork) Sparrow, Fred Sparrow, Ronnie Sparrow and Jack Sparrow, and two sisters one in infancy and Ella Mae (Tillie) Wilkie. Surviving are two sons, George William (Bill) Murphy of Maywood, MO, and Randall Joe (Randy) and Marjorie Murphy of Durham, MO, two sisters Lynn Reynolds of LaBelle, MO and Karen Dodd and Bennie of Hannibal, MO, five grandchildren, Dustin and Sarah, Tyler and Ranay, Micayla and Cody, Joshua and Hana and Alek, four great grandchildren Kayleigh, Kristin, Kasey and Kye and several nieces and nephews. Janice attended schools in Illinois and graduated from LaBelle High School. She worked at the LaBelle Manor for 25 years as the head of housekeeping. She enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and spending time with children and grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and services will begin at 11 a.m. in at the Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate the services. Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tyler Murphy, Dustin Murphy, Cody Gammon, Josh Murphy, George Morrison and Alek LaFrenz. Honorary bearers will be Micayla Gammon, Sara Murphy, Hana Murphy, Ranay Murphy, Kayleigh Murphy, Kristin Murphy, Kasey Murphy and Kye Murphy. Memorials in memory of Janice Kay Murphy are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and or St. Croix Hospice. Memorials may be mailed to or left at Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O.
