John McLane Obituary

John Clarke McLane, 83, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 9:30 AM at his home. He was born on August 14, 1941 in Clinton to Thomas I. and Zelma Gogue McLane II. John was a graduate of Clinton High School and the University of Iowa. He worked for several water departments in the Midwest and retired from the city of Ft. Madison Water Department as a Supervisor. John enjoyed painting, watching gospel programs on TV and nature, especially the changing of the fall leaves. Survivors include one son, Don Bailey of Ft. Madison whom he fostered and later adopted and one brother, Dick McLane of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Thomas I McLane III and a sister, Barbara Ripple. Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory and there will be no services. Online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com.
