Leah Hull Obituary

Leah Mabel Hull of Barry, Illinois, passed away on March 27, 2025 at the age of 96. She was born April 10, 1928 near Siloam Springs to John E. and Nellie (Walmsley) Potter. She married Marvin N. Hull in Beverly on February 5, 1950 and they celebrated 75 wonderful years of marriage and memories together. He survives. Leah graduated from Liberty High School in 1946 and worked at Moorman Manufacturing in Quincy until her marriage. She then became a farm wife and stayed home to raise her family. She was devoted to her grandchildren and attended all their events. She always ended visits and signed birthday cards with "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." She was a wonderful cook and hosted many family celebrations, serving specialties like homemade crescent rolls and noodles. She was a life-long and active member of the Fishhook United Brethren Church in Fishhook, Illinois. She had also been a member of the Beverly Home Extension and the Adams County Farm Bureau Prime Timers. Leah served as an Adams County Election Judge for many years. She enjoyed traveling (especially family vacations), cooking and baking, reading, and attending country and gospel music shows. Leah's warmth and kindness touched many in her family, community and church circles. She will be deeply missed but we were fortunate to have known and loved her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Peggy Ulm of Quincy; a son-in-law, Robert (Cari) Browning of Perry, IL: grandchildren, Jason Browning, Jennifer (Willie) McArtor, Jeff (Nicole) Browning, Emily (Tim) Miller, and Ali Nicole Browning; great-grandchildren, Madison McArtor, Jakob and Kalob Browning, Samuel, Leah and Abram Miller; and extended family members, Sara Norris and Emma Bauer. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Susan Browning; a granddaughter, Kaylynn Browning; and siblings, Maureen Bennett, Gerald Potter, John Ray Potter and Lloyd Potter. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, with a visitation prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m., at the United Brethren Church in Fishhook, Illinois. Pastor Mark Dickerson will officiate. Burial will be at Mound Prairie Cemetery in Beverly, IL. Memorials may be made to the Fishhook United Brethren Church or the Beverly Cemetery Association.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I was in the Beverly Home extension with her. She was a very nice Christian lady.

We were sorry to hear of Leah Mabel passing away. We always visited a lot on the phone. Since we live in Mississippi, we would always meet Leah Mabel, Peggy and Marvin at a restaurant in Quincy and have a good family visit, when we would come to Quincy. We would always get to laughing a lot when we would meet them. I will always remember Leah Mabel as a very pleasant and sweet Cousin to visit with. I will miss her very much. She was a distant Cousin of mine in the Walmsley family. My sympathy and Love goes to Peggy, Marvin and the rest of Leah Mabel's family. Love, Darlous Walmsley Hull and Matthew Hull
