Linda Hollensteiner Obituary

Linda Hollensteiner, 77, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden, IL. Linda was born April 8, 1948, in Columbia, MO to Elmer and Golden (Anderson) Oitker. She was married to Gary Hollensteiner on July 26, 1969, in Quincy, IL. He survives. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Hammond (Bob) of Macomb, IL; four grandchildren, Daniel Hammond (Isabelle), Mary Hammond, Matthew Hammond, and Elizabeth Hammond; one great-grandchild, Gwendolyn Hammond; two brothers, Gene Oitker (Joyce) and Randy Oitker (Audrey); and one sister, Barbara Heppner (Roger). Linda was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kent Hollensteiner; and one aunt, Ruth Disselhorst. A proud graduate of Quincy High School in 1966, Linda furthered her education at Gem City School of Business, where received a degree in secretarial work. Her professional journey included roles as a secretary at Gardner Denver, an insurance company, and a church office. Linda's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a devout member of Rock Church, where she embodied the love and servitude of Christ. Her heart was always in the right place, as she diligently read her Bible and participated in word studies. Linda's home was a sanctuary of fellowship and learning, hosting a Women's Bible Study for several years, nurturing the spiritual growth of many. Linda had an artistic flair that was evident in her passion for photography, creating treasured photo books for herself and as heartfelt gifts for her family. Linda's creativity extended to sewing, where she fashioned exquisite pieces for her loved ones, from capes to stuffed animals to nightgowns and elegant dresses. Linda's talents extended to graphic design, where she crafted the advertising and graphics for her husband's hearing and eyewear business with precision and care. Traveling was one of Linda's joys, with the Rocky Mountains and Jackson Hole, WY, among her favorite destinations. She also held a special place in her heart for Branson, MO, a place she visited annually for over fifty years. Above all, Linda's greatest joy was her family. She cherished every opportunity to be with her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who embraced every moment with her loved ones. Linda's dedication to her family was evident in her weekly drives to Macomb, IL, to support her daughter Judy in homeschooling her four grandchildren. She ensured that her time with them was filled with love, laughter, and learning, leaving behind memories that will be treasured for generations. Friends and Family are invited to Linda's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bryan Meado and Pastor Dixie Koch officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Quincy, IL.
