Lois McCollister Obituary
Lois McCollister, 97 of Kahoka passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born on April 7, 1928, in Alexandria, Missouri, the daughter of John Robert and Anna Olive (Lowe) Briggs. On April 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Frederick R. McCollister, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick, Missouri. They shared fifty-eight wonderful years together before his passing on July 31, 2005.
She worked side by side with Fred on the family farm, where she cared for her hereford cattle and formed a genuine bond with them.
Lois and Fred were well-known in the community and truly enjoyed life together. They loved going out to eat, sharing coffee and conversation with their many friends, and spending time playing cards and bowling.
Lois was an avid bowler for many years and participated in several local leagues. She looked forward to league nights not only for the competition, but for the camaraderie and friendship. Even into her later years, Lois continued to attend bowling events and stayed connected with the friends she made at the lanes.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vivian Briggs and Doris Miller; and five brothers, Dallas Briggs, Morris Briggs, Dale Briggs, John Jr. Briggs, and Vincent Briggs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Shrine of St. Patrick with Father Rob Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service with the family meeting with friends from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Bluff Springs Cemetery or to the Shrine of St. Patrick.
