Marcy Gant Obituary

Marcy Marie Gant, 50, was born on May 29, 1975 to Mary Kathryn Hart and Phillip Gant in Fort Madison, Iowa. She passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital on September 26, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Fort Madison Harmony Bible Church, 1602 Avenue F with Pastor Matt Mitchell officiating. Following the service, there will be a picnic at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Madison Old Settler's Park shelter house, 4th Street and Avenue E. Marcy was a beloved daughter, loving mother, artist, musician, seamstress, caregiver and had an infectious laugh and smile. Marcy's sons, Gage and Alex, were the loves of her life. She cherished her dog, Bubby. She was a very creative woman that could learn how make anything. Marcy played the piano and guitar and was learning the ukelele. Her artistic talents included writing music, drawing, and painting beautiful creations. She was an excellent seamstress and worked at Schramm's in Burlington right after high school where she learned to alter wedding and prom dresses. She could design her own patterns from newspaper for clothing and costumes that she designed. Marcy attended Burlington Community High School and graduated from Southeastern Community College. Marcy loved being a member of her church, Fort Madison Harmony Bible Church. She loved to cook, spend time with her boys, creating art and music, reading, watching horror movies and collecting Chucky dolls. Marcy was preceded in death by her father, grandparents Virgil Hart and Betty Hart and Aunt Tami Hart. She is survived by her mother Mary Kathryn, her sons Gage and Alex, and her sister, Amy Gant, her brothers, Aaron (Jessica Orr) Phillips and Ryan (Tiffany) Phillips, by her niece and nephews, Jamal Gant, Aaliyah Williams, Brad Phillips, John Phillips and Ayce Phillips. Also survived by her uncles and aunts, Virgil (Barb) Hart, Susan (Bob Gantz) Hart, Valerie (Paul Merkes) Canby, Doug (Jacqui) Hart. Lori (Kevin) Levins, Brad Hart, and Betty Hart. She is also survived by numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews. Marcy is also survived by many other family members and friends. King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the Gant and Hart family. Online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com.
