Marion Ames Obituary

Marion Oliver (Bud) Ames, 85, of Macomb, passed away Saturday morning, July 19, 2025 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL. He was born on August 1, 1939 in Macomb, IL, to Clark and Bertha (Bowman) Ames. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers C. Earl Ames, Bobby Joe Ames and nephew Clarke Ames. He is survived by his sister Barbara Kathleen Moore, niece Deborah (George) Coursey and family; niece Lynn Ames; three children: Randal J Ames and wife Linda Prosise; Raina S Ames and husband Michael Wood; Aaron M Ames and grandson Ryan M Ames. Bud obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1962 from Western Illinois University. After college, he served in the army, stationed in Germany where he was an armor turret maintenance mechanic. His family were farmers in McDonough County, and Bud went on to forge a career working for General Telephone. He was a collector of vintage money, did extensive research into the family's genealogy, and was a die-hard Cubs fan all his life. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday July 25, 2025 at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Eddy officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial are suggested to the Meals on Wheels Program or to the Veterans Assistance Commission of McDonough County (VACMC).
