Marion F. Phillips, age 93, formerly of Detroit, IL passed away on September 26, 2025 at her son's home in Lebanon, IL. She was born on July 10, 1932 in Chambersburg, IL to Francis and Myra (Dennis) Leahr. Marion married John R. Phillips on March 21, 1954 at the Detroit Christian Church and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2019.
Marion graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1950 and went on to attend Lincoln Christian College. When John returned home from serving our country in the Korean War, they soon got married and started their family. Marion became a true farmer's wife always supportive of her husband and the farm endeavors, while taking care of their family and home. She grew a large vegetable garden of which she canned or froze her produce. She was a wonderful baker, making excellent candy and cookies, especially her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Besides being a dutiful wife and mother, she was very loyal to her grandmother, visiting her daily to make sure she had what she needed. Marion was a servant behind the scenes, as she always put others ahead of herself. She was a member of the Detroit Christian Church, the Silver Tea Group, was an election judge, and served on the Detroit Town Board for many years. After moving to Lebanon and living with her son and his family, her grandsons Joe and Jared became very special to her in her final years. Marion was a hardworking, thoughtful, resilient and determined person who loved the Lord and her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
