Mark Scott Obituary
Mark Anthony Scott, 68, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Beloved Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hannibal, Missouri.
Born on May 11, 1957, in Quincy, Illinois, Mark was the son of George and Bonnie (Sayles) Scott.
Survivors include his eight children, Darla Brady (Damon) of Quincy, LaChelle Wigfall (Elias) of Quincy, Morgan Scott (Megan) of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Andrea Williams (Kevin II) of Oklahoma, Debra Williams (Joshua) of Hannibal, Casey Scott of Ann Arbor, Michigan, GW Scott (Sophia) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Kariah Kirchner of Indianapolis; three brothers, Bruce Scott, Lynell Scott, and David Scott, all of Quincy; one sister, Memory Scott of Hannibal; sixteen grandchildren, Ty'Rekk Scott, Rozalyn Wilson (Shane), Alfie Lewis, Makween Parrish (Jaquez McGruder), Ta'Lia Kelly (Jkolbe), Jamila Browne (Kyle), Elijah Wigfall II, Kevin Williams III, Korde Williams, Keyon Williams, Amaya Williams, Brielle Williams, Abriana Williams, Joshua Williams II, Devy Williams, and Christian Scott-Moore; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Braylee Scott, Briggs Scott, Pandora Wilson, Silas Wilson, Keenan Lewis II, Aviyon Lewis, Primrose McGruder, Leilanii McGruder, Ja'Khysn McGruder, Misáel McGruder, Jaiden Kelly, Jazmyn Kelly, Jahnovia Kelly, Kymila Browne, and Kylila Browne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Darnell Scott and Lamar Scott; two sisters, Laura Allison and Patricia Sanders; and his daughter, Resce Scott.
Mark graduated from Quincy High School in 1975 and spent many years working as a butcher in the Quincy area.
Mark was a sports lover through and through. He also enjoyed playing cards, listening to old-school 70s tunes, and the company of his German shepherds.
Above all, Mark cherished his family. He gave each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren a special nickname - a testament to the unique bond he shared with each of them. He will always be remembered for his laughter, playful spirit, home-cooked meals, and his deep desire to keep his family close and connected.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Wentric Williams. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy. A gathering for family and friends will be held afterward at Barney's Tavern.
