Michael Capps Obituary

Michael Lee Capps, age 46 of Shelbyville, Mo. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday August 29, 2025, at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 12, 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Terry Dee Capps and Marilyn Ann Blindert (Tom Welter). Mike attended Potosi High School and later received his high school diploma at Southwest Technical College. Michael was united in marriage to Jennifer J. (Coates) Capps on June 16, 2007 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Potosi, WI. Where they started there lives. Michael had various jobs throughout his life. He worked at the Yacht Club, Panel Tek, and on his spare time cleaned windows. Michael was a local 94 Union member at John Deere Dubuque Works where he was a welder and assembler in the most of his career. In 2022 they moved to Missouri to spend the rest of their lives. He worked at Shelby County Motors, Inc. in Shelbina, Mo until he was unable to continue due to his health. Michael is survived by his wife Jennifer, two children Christopher Capps and Chloe Capps who both reside in Shelbyville, MO. one brother Tony Capps of Potosi, WI and one sister Jessica Jones of Macon, MO, mother-in-law Diane Coates of Platteville, WI, two bother-in-laws Adam Jones of Shelbyville, MO and Steve Coates of Tipton, IA. and many nieces and nephews. Michael was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Clara and George Capps, and Carl and Dorthea Blindert, one brother Bradley Welter, one Aunt Jackie Blindert and father-in-law Carl Coates. Michael was a caring soul who would do anything for anyone in a heartbeat. Michael had a heart of gold and lit up a room with just his smile. Michael loved to hunt, fish, golf, gambling, playing cards, football, riding his Harley Davidson Sportster Motorcycle, being on the Mississippi river, playing bean bags, tinkering on things, being outdoors, and anything involving NASCAR. He loved his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, two dogs, his two kids, his wife, and friends and family. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Michael and all the wonderful friends and family that supported Michael during this very difficult and challenging time. He will be missed and loved by all who knew him. Services will be held at a later date
