Nona Shadrick Obituary

Nona Sue Shadrick, 87, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 4:13 PM, Friday, May 16, 2025, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, MO. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Gary Loomis will officiate. Burial will follow at Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Palmyra, MO. Friends and Family are invited to Nona's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 1:00 PM to2:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Nona was born March 20, 1938, in Auxvasse, MO, to Crim and Virginia Jennings Crim. She was married to Dward Elton Shadrick in 1956 in Arizona. He survives. Other survivors include her sons, Donald Shadrick, Jeffrey (Tonya) Shadrick, Lance Shadrick, and numerous grandchildren. Nona was preceded in death by her parents, son, Eric B. Shadrick, daughter-in-law, Pamela Shadrick, and brother, Michael Crim. Nona dedicated her early years to the noble profession of nursing, touching many lives with her compassion before embracing the role of a homemaker with grace and enthusiasm. Her love for music was profound; Nona's fingers played piano keys, bringing joy to many, especially during her time playing the keyboard for her church congregation. Nona would occasionally watch some old movies but, was more of a reader and she found solace and inspiration in the pages of the Bible. Nona's cooking skills will be remembered fondly by family and friends alike; her beans and cornbread were a particular favorite. Together with her husband Dward, a proud Air Force serviceman, Nona traversed the globe, collecting memories and experiences. In retirement, she relished the opportunity to settle down, cultivating a garden of both flowers and friendships. Nona's vibrant spirit and nurturing presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Nona was a member of Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra, MO. Pallbearers will be Bob Otten, Dan Moss, Dirk Davis, Lance Shadrick, Jeff Shadrick and Don Shadrick. Memorial contributions may be made to Mission Hill Baptist Church.
