Norton Sanderson Obituary

Norton Edward Sanderson, 92, formerly of DeKalb, IL, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. Born February 27, 1933, in Decorah, IA, he was the son of Carl and Selma Fadness Sanderson. On January 24, 1953, he married Norma Rose Solomon in DeKalb, IL. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, stationed in Germany during the Korean War from March 25, 1953 until April 8, 1961. Norton retired from The King's Electric after many years working as an electrician. He was a hard worker and could always be found tinkering in his garage. Survivors include his wife, Norma Sanderson of Burlington; four daughters, Lily (Greg) Tayson of Burlington, Susan (Tom) Magnuson of Colorado Springs, CO, Michelle (Gary) Ryan of Boerne, TX, and Lisa (Chet Casey) Schwartz of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings, Eugene Sanderson, Alvin Sanderson, Esther Lehman, Gladys Burrdick, Florence Olson, Stella Ashpole, Ellen Simons, Ida Gross, and Norma Cardinali, his twin sister. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. To send flowers to the family, please visit our floral store.
