Rebecca Jane Sims

Ms. Rebecca Jane Sims, age 76, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at a local memory care unit. Ms. Sims was born in Hannibal, MO, on October 26, 1948, daughter of the late Robert Beckner and the late Nancy Mudd Beckner. She received her Bachelor of Arts in education from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and went on to receive her MBA from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA. Ms. Sims retired from Harbin Clinic after serving 21 years as the Director of Materials Management. While at Harbin, she was also tasked with designing each new Harbin office that opened and took great pride in her décor at each facility. Prior to her work at Harbin Clinic, Ms. Sims was the Director of Purchasing at the Flint River Hospital in Montezuma, GA. She was a member of the Porcelain Art Guild, Leona Clement Chapter. Ms. Sims was an extremely talented painter. Following her mother and grandmother's footsteps, she excelled in painting China, Tole paintings, and other mediums which she sold yearly at the Andersonville fair in the 80's. Before children, Ms. Sims taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade and loved pouring her heart and mind into young children. She loved camping and fishing in her early years. Ms. Sims was an incredible baker, having made the best pies and cobblers many had ever tasted. She loved her craft and spent hours passing her skills down to her granddaughter. Ms. Sims also loved the beach, especially her beach vacations with her friend Phyllis. She was also known to frequent yard sales with Denise and Terri any chance she could. Survivors include her 2 sons, Aaron Sims (Buffy), Locust Grove, and Brian Sims (Heather), Decatur; 2 grandchildren, Bailey Sims and Avery Sims; 2 brothers, Mike Beckner (Brenda) and David Beckner (Carol); nieces and a nephew. Graveside Services and Burial will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Fr. Greg Meystrik will officiate. The family is being served locally by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
