Richard (Dick) Frowein passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Wesley Village in Macomb. He was born the fourth son of Howard and Lois (Pickenpaugh) Frowein, on November 11, 1930, in Macomb, IL. He married Janice (Sohrbeck) on August 2, 1953, in East Moline, IL. He is survived by their children, Jyl (Frowein) Zubiate of Eureka, IL and Richard L. Frowein (Dianne) of Waukesha, WI, four grandchildren, Laura Frowein, Burbank, CA, Mark (Allison) Frowein, Waukesha, WI, Katherine (Joe) Henry, New Berlin, WI, and Eric Krause, Eureka, IL and two great grandchildren, Elliana and Liam Frowein of Waukesha, WI. Dick was preceded in death by brothers; Clarence, Robert (Zam), James (Marsha), his wife Jan and daughter Robyn Sharp (John).
He graduated from Western High School and Western Illinois University with a B.S. and a M.S. in Education. Dick taught Business courses at Limestone High School in Bartonville, IL before returning to Macomb to work at Union National Bank and Western Illinois University. Macomb High School was his next teaching position before retiring in June 1985.
Dick was active in his church as well as serving his community. He served as president of Macomb Jaycees, was a Charter Member of the Macomb Lions Club with 18 years perfect attendance, a member of Macomb Fire and Police Commission, served with S.C.O.R.E., and volunteered at McDonough District Hospital.
Dick served in the U.S. Navy from July 1949 to July 1950 and again from February 1952 to November 1953. The four brothers served at the same time during the Korean Police Action with each serving in a different branch, C.L. (Sonny) Air Force, Robert (Bob) Marines, James (Jim) Army, and Richard (Dick) Navy.
Memorial Service will be 11 AM Saturday Jan. 18, 2025 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Don Long Jr. will officiate. Private burial of ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
