Robert "Bob" Springer

Robert 'Bob' Springer, age 87 of rural Pearl, IL passed away Monday, August 25, 2025, at his home. He was born January 17, 1938, in Pearl, IL to Richard and Juanita Landess Springer. Bob married Linda Mae Lippincott November 25, 1959, in Louisiana, MO and she preceded him in death June 18, 2019. Bob was born and raised in Pearl on the family farm and was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School where he played football. Bob was a member of Green Pond Christian Church. Bob started driving a gas truck for his dad at an early age and then later sold Faultless Feed for several years before beginning his lifelong career as a farmer. He first farmed with his father and then continued with his children and proudly carried out the family legacy farming with his grandchildren. Bob started building hog confinements in 1995 and then started R.S. Trucking with his family. In his early years, Bob raced cars at the Pittsfield Speedway and has always been an avid antique tractor collector and enjoyed his toy tractor collection. He loved attending the Prairie Land Heritage Days and going to fairs with Linda, especially if they featured a tractor show! Bob was a hardworking man who was tough as nails but always had a soft spot for his grandchildren. Bob and Linda went together like brick and mortar, building a life and working side by side daily; this dedication and work ethic has been passed along to their family laying the foundation to maintain their legacy for future generations. Bob is survived by son, Mark (Lisa) Springer of Pearl, IL; daughter, Corinna (Ron 'Hoss') Mountain of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Lyndsie (Levi) Rosentreter, Bryttnie Springer, Jared (Madison) Mountain, and Julie (Alec) Boylen; great grandchildren, Cal Rosentreter and Nash Rosentreter; and special family friends, Karen Hayden and Shelbi Summers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Juanita Springer; wife of nearly 60 years, Linda Springer; grandson, Jason Mountain; and sister, Carol Carter. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 29, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with interment to follow the service at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to Prairie Land Heritage Museum or Pike County Animal Shelter.
