Rosalie Rottmann Obituary

Rosalie "Rose" Dolores Rottmann, age 97, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025 at Blessing Hospital. Rose was born in 1928, the only child of Clark and Edna (Mason) Rehm. She was lovingly raised by her mother and her step-father, Francis Ingles, who remained a beloved father figure throughout her life. Rose married Robert "Bob" Rottmann on March 12, 1948, and together they raised four children in their family home on South 24th Street-along with a host of beloved pets who were always part of the household. A 1946 graduate of Quincy Senior High School, Rose went on to attend Gem City Business College. She began her career at Peerless Pump, and later Moorman Manufacturing, in secretarial roles, before staying home to raise her children. Later, she returned to the workforce at the Illinois Veterans Home until retirement, where she shared her care and compassion with others. Rose was also a lifelong volunteer-dedicated to her church, Luther Memorial, her children's activities, and many community organizations she held dear. Rose's door was always open, and her fridge and pantry always full because she never wanted company to leave hungry. She loved visiting garage sales and antique stores, finding treasures and sharing stories along the way. Family meant everything to her, and she was happiest surrounded by those she loved. Those loved ones will spend the next 97 years going through all the treasures she collected. Her legacy of kindness, joy, and strength will forever be remembered. Rose endured tremendous loss with grace and faith-preceded in death by her son Greg, husband Bob, great-grandson Anthony, and grandson Lucas. Through it all, she remained a pillar of light and resilience, and her family takes comfort knowing her eternity is secure in Heaven. Survivors include three children: Dan (Bobbi) Rottmann, Jane (Robert) Morriss, and Susan (Douglas) Wentura; eight grandchildren: Denise (Matt Pettit) Rottmann, Dana Cornett, Daniel (Jeana) Rottmann, Angelique Morriss, Bo Morriss, Matt Wentura, Amy (Jacob) Peters, and Nicholas (Lanessa) Wentura; and 21 great-grandchildren: Emily, Michael, Ava, Lily, Connor, Jordan, Alexander, Samantha, Isabella, Nathan, Mark, Lily, Logan, Cameron, Gracelyn, Maggie, Cooper, Elodie, Jersey, Finley, and Loretta. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly, notably the staff at Bradford Villa, her doctor and cousin, Crystal Perry, and Tony Cornett. Rose's family would like to thank all of the hospice and nursing staff that cared for her in her final days. Visitation: 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Service: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Kory Hollensteiner officiating.
