Tamara Meredith Obituary

Tamara "Tammy" Meredith, 54, of Quincy, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. Tammy was born December 26, 1970, in Quincy, IL to James and Joan (Barr) Meredith. A proud graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1988, Tammy furthered her education at John Wood Community College, where she studied accounting. She went on to build a successful career as the director of call operations for H&R Block, where her dedication and hard work were recognized by her colleagues and the community she served. Tammy's professional accomplishments were matched by her commitment to her faith as an active member of Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene. Tammy's life was a testament to her vibrant spirit and her ability to find happiness in the simple pleasures. Her love for her dog, Lukey, a Shih Tzu, was evident to all who knew her, as she cared for him with the utmost affection. An avid fan of NASCAR, WWF, and the St. Louis Cardinals, Tammy's enthusiasm for her favorite sports teams was infectious. Her extensive collection of Snoopy memorabilia and Cardinals bobbleheads was a source of joy and pride. When it came to entertainment, Tammy had her favorites. She was likely to be found watching "The Bachelorette" or "Survivor," and her musical tastes ranged from the storytelling of country music to the uplifting melodies of Christian rock. Travel was another of Tammy's passions, with memorable trips to Las Vegas and cruises to exotic destinations like Puerto Rico, San Juan, Nassau, and St. Martin. Above all, Tammy cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving brother, Mike Meredith (Melissa) of Ewing, MO; her adored nieces and nephews, Jessica Meredith, James Meredith, Carrie Drebes (Zach), Taylor Kimbrell (Hailee), Kaitlyn Simmons (Michael), Jenna Meredith, Brayden Meredith, and Sawyer Winfield; Pastor Wayne and Connie LaForce that became part of the family; and her caregiver, Jenny LaForce. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters, Victoria and Glenna. Tammy's life was a beautiful mosaic of the things she loved and the people she touched. Her warmth, kindness, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Friends and Family are invited to Tammy's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Quincy, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Wayne LaForce officiating and Pastor Mark Madigan co-officiating. Burial will follow at Griggsville Cemetery in Griggsville, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene or The Shepherd's Center in Atlanta, GA.
