Terry Christ

Terry Christ, 74, of Quincy, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Terry was born October 17, 1950, in Quincy, IL to Walter "Buck" and Mabel (Leach) Christ. He was married to Diana Sue Akers on July 19, 1969, in Quincy, IL. She survives. Other survivors include his son, Jerry Lee Christ (fiancée Amanda Miller); four grandchildren, Thomas Wellman, Lucas Wellman, Gage Wellman (Jamie), and Layla Wellman; a goddaughter, Adreana Vollmer; one great-grandchild, Adilyn Wellman; two sisters, Zelda Smith and Judy Slater; and many loving nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, TJ Wellman; and five siblings, Junior Christ, Helen Wells, Jeanette Barts, Tony Christ, and Donnie Christ. Terry spent many years as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Gem City Construction and Silver Eagle Express. Beyond his career, Terry was a man of many interests. A true car enthusiast, he reveled in the roar of engines and the thrill of the race, often found trackside, immersed in the excitement of dirt racing. His mechanical aptitude was evident in his ability to repair tractors and other machinery, a skill he often put to use in his backyard. Terry's love for westerns was well-known, and he could often be found watching his favorite films or listening to the country tunes of Marty Robbins, Waylon Jennings, and George Strait. Above all, Terry was a family man. Whether piecing together a jigsaw puzzle, taking a scenic drive, or sharing moments with his grandchildren, his happiest times were those spent with his loved ones. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Friends and Family are invited to Terry's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Monday, October 6, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 am with Dr. Tom Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Quincy, IL. Following the burial, the family will receive guests at Rocky Point. Guests are welcome to bring a dessert to share. Memorial contributions may be made to his great grandchild's education fund.
