Timothy McDonald Obituary

Timothy James McDonald passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Elms in Macomb, Illinois. He was born January 20, 1960 in Macomb to Gerald and Norma McDonald. He graduated from Macomb High School in 1978 and then attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, graduating with a BFA in Fiber and Fashion and an MFA in Painting. He worked in the fashion industry for most of his career, including I.B. Diffusion, Sears, and Bon Ton. He was a frequent traveler to Europe and East Asia, overseeing final designs and manufacturing as well as sourcing ideas for new clothing lines. He also did a variety of private commissions, including jewelry, clothing, houseware, and painting and drawing. He is survived by his father, Gerald McDonald; his sister, Jane (David) Murphy; his niece, Kate Cobb; his nephew, Josh (Annie) Murphy, and his great-nieces, Ellie and Audrey Murphy. Gracie, his loyal companion and rescue dog, also survives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma McDonald. Private graveside services will be held in Oakwood Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the McDonough County Humane Society, MDH Hospice, or the First Presbyterian Church.
