Valerie Anders

Valerie Joan Anders, age 77, of Quincy, died on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 10:30 am in Blessing Hospital. Valerie was born May 15, 1948 in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England, the daughter of John and Vera Presland Hudson. She married Ronald James Anders on June 12, 1971, in Biggleswade, England. He survives. Valerie grew up in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England. She met the love of her life, Ronald Anders, while he was stationed in England with the United States Air force. Shortly after marriage, the couple returned to Quincy to build their life together. Valerie was a dedicated wife and mother, devoted to raising her family. She loved every moment of it. Valerie and Ron were past members of Luther Memorial Church and are current members of Hope Lutheran Church. She was always an active member of her church, being past member of the Alter Guild, helped with Sunday School, and Bible School. She was always willing to help where needed. She also enjoyed volunteering at Blessing Hospital. In her spare time, Valerie enjoyed working in her flower garden and knitting. Survivors in addition to her husband include: two children, James (Erica) Anders, and Tracey (Grant) Vandenberg, both of Quincy; four grandchildren, Peyton and Carlie Anders, and Castor and Aislynn Vandenberg; a sister, Janet (Anthony) Sheldon of Wellingborough, England; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Valerie was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial Service: 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Dennis officiating. Inurnment to follow at Greenmount Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.
