Wanda Madden, 94, of Palmyra, MO, passed away at 8:54 PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra, MO. Fr. Gerald Kaimann will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Monroe City MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Wanda was born August 31, 1931, in Hannibal, MO to Walter Lee Mudd and Essie Mertle McKenzie Mudd. She was married to Donald Madden on June 29, 1948, in Monroe City, MO. He preceded her in death May 1, 2005.
Survivors include her children, Joe (Christine) Madden of Palmyra MO, Kathryn "Kathy" (Rodney) Holmes of Odessa, MO, Mike (Cindy) Madden of Palmyra, MO, sister, Evelyn Browning, grandchildren, Chris Madden, Katie Madden, Brad (Darla) Finnigan, Brian Finnigan, Kim Finnigan (Donnie Fellers), Allison Holmes, Dustin (Christie) Madden, Carrie (Josh) Smith, Lance (Cynthia) Madden, great grandchildren, Brayden, Corbyn, Sydney, Landon, Addysn, Elliott, Brittnee, Ashley, Kevin, Keith, Tyler, Tanner, Julia, Zander, Kaylea, Cecelia, Clark, Cole, great great grandchildren, Keagan, Carter, Fynlie, Ellie, Jameson, 1 on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, William "Bill" Madden, brother, Jerry Mudd and sister, Betty Tucker.
Known for her dedication and service, Wanda's career was as a Loan Officer and Branch Manager at Marion Co. Mutual.
An avid lover of the great outdoors, Wanda found serenity and joy at her beloved river camp on Salt River. She had a passion for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. A true game show aficionado, Wanda was particularly fond of testing her knowledge with 'Jeopardy!' which she could rarely pass up when it aired on the Game Show Network. She had a lovely curated collection of bells and Precious Moments figurines.
Wanda's adventurous spirit shone brightly through her travels. Whether exploring the rugged beauty of Alaska with her sisters or enjoying the majesty of Canada with her husband, she embraced each new experience with enthusiasm.
In the kitchen, Wanda was unmatched, particularly known for her delectable desserts, fluffy rolls, and apple dumplings that would melt in your mouth. Her love for a simple glass of iced cold tea was a personal trademark reflecting her more serious demeanor.
Wanda was an avid reader of mystery and wholesome books and could be found piecing together her latest jigsaw puzzle.
Her legacy will continue to live on through the cherished memories she created and the enduring imprint she has left on our hearts.
Wanda attended St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Palmyra, MO.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dustin Madden, Lance Madden, Chris Madden, Brad Finnigan, Brian Finnigan and Josh Smith.
Memorials can be made to the Palmyra Nutrition Center or Maple Lawn Activities Fund.
