Wilma Tieman Obituary
Wilma Marilyn Tieman, age 98, of rural Liberty, died on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 6:38 p.m. in her home.
Wilma was born December 18, 1926 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of William H. and Alice L. Wissman Baker. She married Floyd B. Tieman on March 18, 1951 in Lutheran Church of St. John. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1995.
Wilma attended Bowles School, a one room country school, and was a 1944 graduate of Quincy Senior High School.
Wilma was a lifelong farm wife and homemaker of Burton Township in Adams County. She worked alongside her husband raising dairy and beef cattle, hogs, and chickens. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and needle crafter.
She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of St. John and served as the president of the Ladies Aid and Cradle Roll Coordinator for many years. She was a member of the Riverside 4H Club, a leader for the Home Ec 4H Club, teaching young members how to sew, and the Rural Youth Queen of 1949, serving as assistant editor for the Rural Youth newsletter.
Survivors include: two sons, David (Sue) Tieman and Paul (Alison) Tieman, both of rural Liberty, IL; a daughter, Marilyn (Bill) Humphrey of rural Payson, IL; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Greg Trone) Breeden of Golden, Sherrie (Patrick) Webb of rural Dexter, IA, Christie (Jason) Campbell of rural Camp Point, IL, and Hila (LB) Waterkotte of Liberty, IL; four great grandchildren: Lance Woolam of Golden, Presley Campbell of Camp Point, IL, Bennett Webb of Dexter, IA, and Holden Waterkotte of Liberty, IL; two sisters-in-law: Melba Baker and Ruth Baker, both of rural Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 44 years, Floyd, Wilma was preceded in death by: her parents; a grandson, Scott William Humphrey; two brothers: Harold and Roy Baker; and two sisters in-law: Virginia Meyer and Wilma Starman.
Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Lutheran Church of St. John.
Services: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Lutheran Church of St. John with Pastor Steve Hayden officiating.
Burial: Quincy Memorial Park.
