Alice Edna Whetsel

Alice Edna (Yeo) Whetsel, 81, of Haverhill, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Port Healthcare in Newburyport, MA. She was born in Haverhill on June 14, 1943, daughter of the late William and Miriam (Soolich) Yeo. Alice's early years were spent in Boxford and later in Haverhill, where she graduated from Haverhill High School in 1961. She then went on to Eastern Nazarene College to study teaching. Alice was a beautiful artist. She loved watercolor and drawing. She enjoyed writing letters, poems and journaling. She was also accomplished in music, playing the cello and guitar. Alice loved walking and often took long walks around Haverhill. Alice spent her final years at Port Healthcare. She enjoyed the arts and crafts activities, special lunches, caring staff and resident therapy dog, Gus. Alice was predeceased by her children Jody Whetsel and Jonathan Whetsel, her Granddaughter Hope Barber, and her loving sister Bette Pyne. She is survived by her daughter Vonda Barber and her husband Doug Barber of Dillsburg, PA, her granddaughter Chloe Barber of Dillsburg, PA, Brother-in-law Richard Pyne of Atkinson, NH, Nephew Greg Pyne of Ocoee, FL, Niece and longtime caretaker Erin Hanson and her husband Bill Hanson of Haverhill and her grandnieces Isabelle and Laila Hanson. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 10-11 Am in the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford, MA 01835. Her funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
