Franklin McIntyre Obituary
Franklin Jacob McIntyre, our amazing dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025-just five weeks after the love of his life, Peggy, went to be with the Lord. It brings us comfort to know that, after 52 years of marriage, they are together again in Heaven, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord and our other family members.
Dad lived a fulfilled, wonderful life-one filled with hard work, service, laughter, and most of all, love. In his final weeks, his health declined, and after losing Mom, it was clear that he was ready to go home-to be with her and with Jesus.
Frank is survived by his children, Dawn Nicolaisen and her husband, Hans; Todd O'Neil; Michele Dennis and her husband, Will; and his sons, Glenn and Scott. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy; his eldest daughter, Julie Rennie, and her husband, Mark; his parents, William and Minnie McIntyre; his brother, Hubert; and his sister, Jeanette.
Dad proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 26 years-four years of active duty and twenty-two years in active reserves. He never missed a single weekend drill or two-week deployment. He took great pride in his service, and his family was always proud of his dedication and discipline.
Anyone who knew Frank knew he was one of the hardest-working men around. He was constantly busy fixing, building, or tinkering. He loved working with his hands and took great pride in caring for his home, his yard, and his garden. Above all, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He often put his own wants aside to make sure everyone else was taken care of.
During the years Frank and Peggy lived in Danville, New Hampshire, they became deeply involved in their community. Both proudly served with the volunteer fire department and rescue team, and together they participated in countless town events throughout the 1970s and 1980s. They made lifelong friends during that time, and their service left a lasting mark on their small town community.
In 1989, Frank and Peggy moved to Florida, where he finished out his career as a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Daytona Beach. He loved his work and his co-workers but was happy to retire early at age 62 so they could return home to New Hampshire, where they enjoyed a quieter life surrounded by family.
Faith was at the center of Dad's life, but it was personal. His relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, began in childhood, as he grew up in a Southern Baptist Church. Every morning, without fail, he started his day with the Bible-reading it cover-to-cover many times over.
We will miss him more than words can say. Dad was a man of great integrity, kindness, and humility. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it-often without being asked. His compassion and his love will remain in our hearts forever.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." - 2 Timothy 4:7–8
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Dad would want us all to love one another and share the good news of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
