Geneviere Jean Obituary
Genevieve 'Jenny' (Lee) Jean, age 94, wife of Arthur L. Jean, died peacefully holding hands of family members on September 17, 2025 in Haverhill, MA. She was born in Boston, MA on February 13, 1931 to the late Leonard N. Lee and Margaret (Everton) Lee Leatham.
She was the loving mother of three sons, Leonard Lee Thomas (spouse Irene) of Groveland, MA, William L. Thomas (Patty) of Kentucky, and previously deceased Douglas A. Jean of Colorado, and three daughters, Margaret Thomas Naylor (Michael) of TN, Kathleen Conroy (Patrick) of Kentucky, and Kimberly Dean (James) of Kentucky. She had five step-children: Arthur L. Jean III, Stephen Jean, Wendy Hackett, Lori Harries, and Heidi Shepherd. She dearly loved her many grandchildren, many many great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She has several living siblings: brothers, Ronald Lee of MA, William Lee of ME, and sisters, Patricia Iannacci of MA, Norma Brod of VA, and Audrey Eckman of MA. She was preceded in death by brothers Leonard N. Lee, Jr., David Lee, Sr., Edward Leatham, and sisters Virginia DeVellis, Margaret Griffith, Florence Cameron, Dorothy Newton.
Before retiring, Jenny was the bookkeeper for the Union Land and Grazing Company in Colorado Springs, Colorado for many years.
Jenny's wit and positivity touched the lives of countless people in the many locations in which she lived in the states of Massachusetts, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Colorado, and New Hampshire. She embraced every opportunity to travel and enjoyed exploring Ireland, California, Washington, D.C., and roadtrips to visit family throughout the United States.
Jenny loved the residents and caretakers at Merrivista and sharing stories with them, and this love was returned to her many times over. The family extends deep gratitude to the staffs of both Merrivista in Haverhill and CareDimensions HomeMD/Hospice for all of their caring support for Genevieve and her family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23, in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
