John Alex Obituary
John D. Alex, 64, of Haverhill, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Cedar View Rehab and Health Center in Methuen, after a long illness.
John was born in Haverhill on August 25, 1960, son of the late James and Mary (Anastasiades) Alex.
After John's High School graduation in 1978, he went on to attend Northern Essex Community College and then went on to work for Wang Industries as an electronic technician for many years. He last worked at Market Basket in Haverhill, where he ruly enjoyed talking with all the customers and making a great deal of friends.
John's passion was photography. He did a lot of freelance photography for family and friends. Those who knew John knew that no matter where he went, his camera and equipment went with him and you were going to be in a picture. John also enjoyed spending time at the gun club in Bradford. Let's not forget working on Uncle Paul's ice cream truck.
John is survived by his sister, Sophia Lord, and her husband Keith of Plaistow, New Hampshire. John also leaves behind his nephew, William James Newhouse and his wife, Sarah Joy, of Southport, North Carolina, his nephew, Nicholas Robert Newhouse of Plaistow, New Hampshire and his great-nephew, Noah Michael Newhouse of Southport, North Carolina, along with many cousins, along with many cousins on both sides of his deceased parent's families.
Special thanks go to John's closest friends Mr. Douglas ("Dougie") Dow of New Hampshire, Mrs. Rita Olivares Sanchez of Manchester, NH, Ms. Deborah Perry and Mr. John Gickas, both of Haverhill, MA. Also, a very special thanks to his cousin, Michael
Ginieres, for his compassion and support for John during his lengthy illness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 at the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter Street, Haverhill, MA. His funeral service will follow the visitation at the church. Interment will be in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill - Bradford.
