John Langlois Obituary
Mesa, AZ: John J. Langlois, Jr., 98, a native and longtime resident of Haverhill, MA, died August 15, 2025 in Mesa. He was the son of the late John J. and Pauline (Phaneuf) Langlois and attended Saint Joseph Grammar School, Haverhill. A member of the Haverhill Trade School Class of 1944, John was first employed at North American Research Corporation in Cambridge, MA.
A World War Two veteran, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July of 1944 and served as a Fireman stationed aboard the USS Monterey, the USS Chandeleur and the USS New Orleans. He was honorably discharged in 1948 and was a recipient of the Word War II Victory Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, the Asiatic/Pacific Ribbon (with two stars), the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. After returning home, he began working as a machinist and Pope Machinery and retired in 1989 as a foreman with thirty-eight years of service. He then began a career as a much appreciated and beloved employee at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home of Haverhill and Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, of Plaistow, NH, assisting with transfers, calling hours and funerals.
A former member of Saint Joseph Parish and All Saints Parish of Haverhill, John was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling as a forty year member of the Monday Night Men's League at Saint Joseph's Bowling Lanes. He was a member and Past-President as well as union steward and secretary of Local 527 of the International Association of Machinists. He was a life member of the Lorraine Post of the VFW, and also a longtime member of AmVets Post 147 of Haverhill.
Predeceased in 2018 by his wife of sixty-eight years, Aimee A. (Comeau) Langlois, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four daughters, Donna DuPont of Mesa, AZ, Janet Dube and her husband Gary of San Tan Valley, AZ, Patricia Deeran and her husband Richard, of Vail, AZ, and Carol Frisby and her husband Michael of Lehigh Acres, FL; five grandchildren, Lee Curtis, Tommy Curtis, Sean Dube and his wife Stefanie, Ryan Dube and Darryl DuPont and his spouse Kelly; eight great grandchildren, Reese, Tommy, Nolan, Chase, Layla, Emrie, Addi, and Kaly, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Joseph DuPont, and his two brothers Richard and Edward Langlois.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service to be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Saint Joseph Cemetery Haverhill and followed by the rendering of Military Honors by the U.S. Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel and Berube-Comeau Funeral Homes of Haverhill and Plaistow.
