John Ronayne Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce Sean's sudden but peaceful passing at Lahey Medical Center, Burlington, after a brief illness. Sean was born in Bridesbridge, Castlelyons, Co. Cork on May 16, 1951.The second son of Jack and Bridie (nee O'Mahony) Ronayne. Educated at Castlelyons National School and Christian Brothers School Fermoy. After school he began driving excavating machinery in his family business and for all of his working life he was to follow this path. He was renowned for his skill with an excavator and his knowledge of how the work should progress for best results. John was contracted on various sites in Ireland for many different companies and individuals. He emigrated to the US in April 1985. And he once again worked at construction and excavating and for a long period he was contracted on "The Big Dig" in Boston. Sean was an Irishman to the core and a member of the Friends of Erin Club, the A.O.H. and at one time the Sons of Erin Westfield. His Love of Ireland and all things Irish was unfaltering and he had a keen interest in its political situation hoping to one day see a United Ireland. Sean was an avid and passionate fly fisherman, he travelled inter-state to find the best fishing spots and would be quiet happy in his own company on some of these trips such was the contentment he felt. He made friends easily whether it be through work, socially or in any situation, he appreciated good company and light heartedness. At a very young age he became a member of Castlelyons Pipe Band becoming the youngest known piper in a Pipe Band in 1957 aged 7 years old. Sean is survived by his sons John and Alan, daughter Roisin, brother Jim sisters Eileen Kearney and Mary Cronin daughter in-law Carole his adoring grandsons Sean and Aron (in Ireland) and his many relatives and friends in the USA. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, in the Driscoll Fuenral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Sean will return home to his beloved Ireland and will be laid to rest in his family plot in Kilcrumper Cemetery, Fermoy County Cork. John and Family. So sorry for your loss. I worked with Sean at Ram Contracting. He was one hell of a friend. Taught me a lot about the backhoe. Took me out in Boston on St. Patrick´s day. I told him I´m buying your drinks today. Never seen him so mad. He says this is my day, I buy the drinks. I didn´t want to argue much after that. He was in Bonnie and my wedding on July 21st 1990. He will be deeply missed. Again so sorry Randy and Bonnie
